A Family Passion

A dream that becomes reality , the dream of a father (Dario) and his son (Fabio), united by brotherly love and a passion for winemaking .

Love handed down in turn by Fabio to his children. Fascinated by the world of winemaking, they are now the new driving force of the company.

The family union is the heart of this company, hence the choice to dedicate labels to members of the family, such as San Nicola, El Dario, So fi a, Fameja (Venetian dialect which means family).

The whole family actively participates in the business: Fabio and Nicola manage all operations in the vineyards and olive groves, So fi a is an oenologist and manages the production and quality control, Elena instead manages sales, tastings and tour groups.

Bonazzi wines fully reflect the passion with which the whole family manages the company, feelings that with the time have become values.

The company has grown a lot in recent years, reaching 8 hectares of property, but despite this everything is taken care of down to the smallest detail to always guarantee the highest quality and respect for own land, emphasizing the aromas of the winemaking and aromas typical of Valpolicella grapes, trying above all to minimize the environmental impact.

Company history highlights

1958

Dario Bonazzi, the founder of the company, becomes the owner of the first hectare of vines in the Camparsi area in the heart of the classic Valpolicella. This is the starting point of the company history which still maintains its central heart in Valpolicella despite the various extensions.

1966

Beginning of the sale of the first bulk products and the birth of Fabio Bonazzi, who will lead the company to national and European markets.

1980

Opening of the company store in Via Valpolicella in San Pietro in Cariano.

1984

Purchase of land in Monte Gradela in Fumane.

1987

purchase of land in the Gargaron area between San Pietro in Cariano and Fumane where the current production cellar will later rise.

1992

Purchase of another 2 plots in Camparsi.

1997

First vintage of El Dario, historic IGT, experimental wine whose travel blend was personally created by Dario Bonazzi.

1998

Purchase of land in Cavaion and start of production of red Bardolino DOC.

2000

First experimentations in rosé for the DOC Bardolino Chiaretto and construction of the production cellar where all the drying, vinification and aging processes still take place.

2013

First trials of distillation of the marc for a reserve grappa aged in wood (production methods used for the current Grappa di Amarone and grappa di San Nicola reserve).

2015

Purchase of a plot of 1.5 hectares in Calmasino with adjoining olive grove (about 250 trees).

2018

First bottle of DOP oil from eastern Garda.

2020

Purchase of the new plot in Santa Lucia, in the municipality of Sant’ambrogio; land planted with Pinot Grigio for new experiments on still whites.
